Program Overview

Receive an Educational Assistant Certificate upon completion of the 1 year program. In partnership with NorQuest College, ECSD Dual Credit Program offers courses for students interested in becoming an educational assistant. 

The Educational Assistant program prepares students to work in educational and community settings. The program focuses on diversity and inclusion, training students to support children and youth with a variety of learning needs, and helping them to reach their potential.

Utilizing Technology Introduction to Communications 
Written Communication Fostering Positive Behavior and Self-Regulation 
Universal Design and Adaptive Instruction Supporting Literacy, Numeracy and Science 
Perspectives on Child and Adolescent Development Education Assistant Field Experience

  • This Dual Credit offering is open to all ECSD high school students with schedules that support full-year morning programming
  • Fourth year, graduated and upgrading students are welcome

Course Details

Full Year September 2026 – June 2027: Educational Assistant

By providing inclusive classroom learning and hands-on practicum experience, the program equips graduates with the knowledge, interpersonal, and practical skills to support students both one-on-one and in small group environments.

Admission Requirements: English 30-1 or English 30-2: 60% minimum 

OR

Academic Assessment: Applicants who have submitted an application may be able to meet their academic requirements with a free assessment. Email, student.advisor@norquest.ca to meet with an advisor.

Location: Cardinal Collins Catholic Academic Centre Clareview Campus 3802 139 Ave. NW

Day/Time: 

A.M. Cohort: 8:45 - 11:30, weekdays except Thursdays

$39.00 Technology User Fee (Non-Refundable)
$181.00 Alternative Program Fee (Non-Refundable)

Benefits

  • Upon successful completion students will earn 40 Career and Technology (CTS) credits towards a high school diploma and receive 34 credits toward their EA certification.
